Flowers provide a great opportunity to explore a range of painting techniques. The variations in form and colour are endlessly fascinating and this course will provide you with the opportunity to explore those techniques including getting to grips with a range of brushes and brushwork.
Paul Riley, who leads this course, is well known for his love of flowers and his ability to capture them in fresh, clean and vibrant colour. He has written a number of bestselling books on the subject and writes regularly for the Artist Magazine. During this course Paul will share his skills and techniques with you through demonstrations and feedback and you will have the opportunity to build your confidence painting outside within the sanctuary of a range of stunning private gardens as well as work from still life back in the studio.
Explore the myriad shapes and colours presented by nature both in the garden and through studio arrangements.
From unusual perspectives, to mixing eye-catching colours, from creating light and mood to using abstraction and pattern, there are plenty of exciting ideas for being more adventurous.
There will be many demonstrations to indicate the use of appropriate brushes, pens, inks and how to deal with differing leaf shapes, wild-flowers, petal variations and composition.
In addition to sharing a wealth of techniques Paul will also introduce you to some stunning local gardens (weather permitting!), painting in and around Coombe and in the studio.
