Our previous Coombe Futures Prize awardees were SARAH GREGORY (printmaking) and KATE LYONS MILLER (ceramics). We are beginning selection for 2018 from 2nd May with offers made to new awardees at the end of the Spring Term and this year’s prize will run following graduation until March 2019.

The Coombe Futures Prize is a joint initiative between Plymouth College of Arts, the Devon Guild of Craftsmen and Coombe Farm Studios.
It will make available a well-equipped pottery and printmaking workshop for a five-month winter residency at Coombe Farm Studios. The Prize will also include mentor time provided by representatives from the partner organisations, link the artists into professional networks, introduce the selected graduates to a teaching practice through shadowing professional tutors, and provide exhibition opportunities.

“This award is for the future artists and makers for our region, those who will stay because it is supportive and dynamic and has given them opportunities like this to create new connections both nationally and internationally” Stephen Felmingham, Programme Leader: BA (Hons) Painting, Drawing & Printmaking Plymouth College of Arts

Coombe Farm Studios is a rural centre dedicated to growing creativity. Supported by a beautiful environment, great food and people who actively enable the creative process, it’s a place for making and showing work, for meaning-making and for learning.

“A key aim of the Devon Guild is to support creative talent in the south west. We are delighted to be working with our partners to help two graduates get established as practicing makers and look forward to the development of many beneficial and productive relationships through the programme.”
