Pottery at Coombe Farm Studios

How does it work?

The Pottery Hub membership programme is designed to support the development of the community through peer support and pottery access outside class time. It enables potters to experiment, practice, develop and fire work.

Membership is open to intermediate or advanced potters who have taken part in at least one of the following; one class term at the Coombe Pottery Hub, a residential pottery course at Coombe or been a member at Studio45.

Membership includes:

  • Up to 15hrs access the Pottery weekly (scheduled time slots managed via TimeTree App)

  • Access between 10am until 9pm Tuesday-Sunday except Wednesday afternoons during term time and some restrictions during residential ceramics course dates)

  • Technicians to undertake your firings, test glazes, mix and prepare in-house glazes.

  • Use of wheels, tools, some kiln space and other equipment

  • Limited Storage space [90 x 30 x 60 cms]

  • Glazes and glaze materials 

  • Opportunity to join termly shows and exhibitions

  • Space on Coombe Farm Studios website within Community Ceramics Hub section for biog (200 words max) 3 x pictures of current work and website address

  • Firings charges are by weight at an additional cost to membership at £1 per 1lb for both bisque and glaze firing.

  • Clay is charged additional to membership fees. It can be purchased at cost price or you can access recycled clay depending on availability.

  • Access to a lending library (books & back issues of ceramic review) 

  • Networking at informal supper club

How much does it cost?

£130 per calendar month, payable monthly by standing order or direct debit.

How long do I have to sign up for?

Minimum 3 month sign up. Max 12 month ‘season’ with option to renew after 12 months for up to 2 more ‘seasons’.

What is the cancellation policy?

You can cancel your membership anytime with one month’s notice. We also reserve the right to remove membership with one months notice. Terms and terminations detail below in application form.

Are bursaries available?

We are working to secure funding to offer bursaries for potters who are working as NHS staff or at Rowcroft providing hospice care.

Can I come and have a look around?

Yes, please do come over any Monday during term time.

Can I bring my own clay and glazes?

Yes and note that all firings are made at standard bisque and stoneware glaze to 1260 and ALL glazes must be test fired with the oversight of an apprentice technician before full firings can take place.
