PAUL RILEY
Coombe Farm Studios was founded in 1983 by Paul with his wife Tina, he continues to live on site and be our lead tutor. Paul has a passion for demystifying the creative process by sharing knowledge, tricks and skills through demonstrations. He teaches watercolour and oil painting, both at Coombe and abroad.
Paul’s artistic career began at the age of 15 when the Royal Academy accepted one of his works for their Summer Exhibition. At that time he was the youngest painter to have work exhibited at the Academy. Since graduating from Kingston Art School in 1965 Paul has had many solo and group exhibitions both in the UK and Europe, and further afield in Kuwait and Australia. Primarily an oil painter and printmaker, Paul also became fascinated by the medium of watercolour. In the last 20 years Paul has established himself as one of Britain’s leading watercolourists and written multiple bestselling books on the subject including Watercolour Flowers, Intimate Landscapes, The Watercolour Workshop and most recently The Magic of Watercolour Flowers (ISBN-10: 1849942811).
